Dr. Thomassee was born and raised in Lafayette. He attended Lafayette High School (’98) and graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (’98-’02) with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Following this, he attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health and Sciences Center in Shreveport (’03-’07).

Upon graduation, he received the Chancellor’s Award for Leadership and was elected to the medical honors society, Alpha Omega Alpha.

Dr. Thomassee then completed his Internal Medicine internship, residency (’07-’10), Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology fellowships (’11-‘15) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

He is board certificated in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular medicine.

He is also Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology and the Vice Chair of Medicine at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center

Additionally, he is fellowship trained in Interventional Cardiology including procedures involving structural heart disease, peripheral vascular disease and coronary artery disease.

During his fellowship, he served as chief administrator, and gained specific expertise in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedures.

His clinical interests include optimization of patient care through quality metrics in acute myocardial infarctions and structural heart disease.

Currently, Dr. Thomassee serves as the medical director of the Heart Hospital of Lafayette/Our Lady of Lourdes TAVR Program.

He is a member of the American College of Cardiology (fellow).

He enjoys cooking unique cuisine and is delighted to return to Lafayette with his wife, Dr. May Thomassee, who is a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon.
