Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?

Some insurance companies may require a referral from your primary care physician (PCP) in order to see a cardiologist (specialist). Medicare and many PPO plans do not require a referral. It is best to check with your insurance carrier or call our office for assistance at 337-269-9777.

Is my insurance accepted?

Cardiology Specialists of Acadiana accepts most forms of insurance and is a participating provider for Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Humana, Medicaid, United Healthcare and many more. We will file your claim to your insurance carrier on your behalf. Please bring your insurance card(s) and notify our receptionist any time that your information has changed or that you have received a new card.

Do I need to fast for my appointment?

A new patient or follow-up appointment with a physician do not require fasting. Some testing, such as a cardiac PET scan or bloodwork, requires fasting, but our staff will instruct you prior to your appointment if fasting is required.

What should I wear to my appointment?

A button-down shirt with pants/shorts and comfortable walking shoes is preferable. Our physician may order an EKG or stress test for you during your appointment which do not require any fasting or preparation by you.

What will I have to pay?

Your copay or estimated deductible/co-insurance will be collected upon check-in for your visit. For testing appointments, our staff will attempt to notify you prior to your appointment. After your insurance carrier processes your claim, they will send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) which outlines your financial responsibility for the services provided.

What testing will I need?

Upon examination, the physician will determine if any diagnostic testing may be required. Tests will be performed either in our office or at another facility or hospital.
